Staff at the counter
A staff member reviews the application in Shopify Admin with a current staff session. Approve and decline are separate, explicit actions. An email or an opened link cannot decide.
Access is which products they can buy
Approved buyers join the B2B market you pick. Its Shopify catalogs set their products and prices. To keep trade products private, exclude them from public Region catalogs in Shopify.
| Object | What happens | Checked how |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Created for the buyer, or linked to a location staff select | Company, contact and location checked |
| B2B market | The location joins the market you chose | Membership read back before access counts |
| Tax | Texas reseller exemption, only for a resale certificate and only if enabled | Exemption read back on the location |
| Expiry | Watched daily; existing linked location data is preserved | BuyerClear-managed access is removed when it lapses |
The application page wears the shop
Buyers apply on a page we host that carries the shop’s name. BuyerClear appears once, in the footer.
How it works
- The buyer opens the shop’s link and enters the licence type, issuing authority, state, number, holder and expiry. The shop can make a supporting professional licence file optional.
- When a file is provided, a vision model reads images and PDFs use their text layer. Scanned PDFs may need a photo instead. Reading never overwrites what the buyer typed.
- The Registry service queries sources configured for that authority and licence class by exact number. Anything inconclusive stays with a person.
- Staff approve or decline in the Shopify admin. Nothing approves automatically.
- Approval creates or links a company location, adds it to your B2B market, and, only if configured for an approved Texas resale certificate, applies that tax exemption. Professional licences never turn tax off.
- A daily job watches expiry and removes BuyerClear-managed access when it lapses. Documents are scheduled for deletion 90 days after submission by default.
A register can confirm an exact identifier and report its status. A holder name, when published, is comparison evidence and never selects a record. Every rule in full.
Who it is for
Shopify shops that must verify professional buyers before granting trade access, with a supported licence class and an eligible B2B market.
- Professional-only beauty supply
- Licensed estheticians, cosmetologists and barbers
- Other professions where staff can complete the official check manually
What BuyerClear does not do, and what to keep using instead.
Check coverage before your pilot
The pilot version has configured professional checks for New York Department of State appearance enhancement and barber individual and business licences. The exact class and issuing authority matter; a state name alone does not establish coverage.
Texas TDLR and Illinois beauty licences are not enabled. Other classes require manual review. Supported sources can still be unavailable or stale at the time of a lookup.
Start with five approved buyers.
Planned launch pricing: Free for up to 5 approved buyers; Core $29/month for additional buyers. Both include one deciding reviewer.
Renewals do not use another free place; the allowance does not reset monthly. Original downloads and individual evidence exports are available on every plan.
Paid plans are not live yet. You will choose and approve a plan in Shopify; passing five buyers will not charge you automatically.
